For all of you wondering what a web directory submissions do or what is a web directory, I will answer this first. A web directory is a website that contains a catolog of websites that are on the internet. Kind of like a search engine, but it is all statically listed. So users of the web directories can click on this category and that subcategory and see all of the websites listed. A web-directory submission is submitting your website to a webdirectory. What does this do for you? When submitting your website link to webdirectories this does a few different things to help advertise your website:
- allows your website to be added on TONS of search engines quickly
- creates a backlink to your website
- pushes you higher in the search results of a search engine
- drives some traffic to your site
A positive web links directory are web directories ranked by google or web directories searched by google or any other search engine that does give you a backlink aka a "do follow" link, most free web directories submissions do give a positive web backlink. There are also web directory sniffer available on the internet that basically scan the internet for web directories that provide "do follow" backlinks aka positive web links directory.
There are some specific web directories out there as well, some niche web directories. Find these ones and submit to them as well, if they are in your niche. This will provide a higher quality backlink to your website. There are also some specific webdirectories just for blogs as well that you can submit blog into blog directory. If you have a blog you can still use any web-directory, but you can also submit blog into blog directory.
There are many big web directories all over the internet to submit site to. To submit website to directory you will be asked to fill out a simple form. Most listing of web directory for free submission will ask for:
- URL, website address, URL address, etc. - This is your domain name you want to submit into the web directories ranked by google.
- Website title, website name, title, etc. - You want to enter a keyword phrase that you want your website known for.
- Description, website summary, etc. - Make this something very catchy and also have maybe 1-2 keyword phrases in it.
- Category, site category - Select a category you want to be placed in, find one that is the most directly related to your website, go as specific as you can into the subcategories as you can. Some big web directories usually have you select this even before you click suggest URL, suggest link, sumbit link, sumbit URL.
- Keywords, tags - Enter a few keyword phrases here if they ask for it, some top ranked free web directories do, and some do not.
- Email address - Most top ranked free web directories will also ask for your e-mail address.
- Reciprocol URL - This is the URL on your website that is linking back to the webdirectory. If this is required, I usually just leave. most will give you an option, link back to our web directory, we'll add you faster into our big web directory, I usually don't link to them and just wait longer.

Well below are your choices, I usually try not to submit link to premium links directory, but if you do find one here that is high ranking, relevant, and high traffic, go for it.
