How to Write SEO Blog Page

Making your WordPress blog pages search engine friendly

Writing a search engine friendly blog page is very similar to writing search engine friendly blog posts. A WordPress blog page will not ask you for a category to place this page under, which is about the only difference as far as creating pages or editing pages. Now as far as how the pages are viewed compared to posts, your pages will not appear under a category, your pages also will not be listed in your blog's RSS feed, which is used for people to subscribe to and view your content without even coming to your blog! The RSS feed is also used for advertising, so we can have all of your posts submitted automatically for you. So if you create all pages, you RSS feed will be useless. A blog page is used for static information, pages don't move around on your blog, and a page doesn't get seen unless someone clicks on it's title. So I recommend using your blog pages for things like a homepage, about page, recommended products, history type of information, or contact information.

When writing a page in your WordPress blog to make it search engine friendly you still want it to be keyword optimized as well using SEO Seach Engine Opimization. Meaning repeat your keywords and keyword phrases in your content, and also repeat keywords and keyword phrases that relate to these keywords and phrases. Back to the how to build an engine example, some keywords you may want to use: build engine, engine building, build motor, motor building, automotive engine, car engine, etc.. Now just because you have those listed out don't mean you are the most relevant, to be more relevant the search engines will look for other terms that relate to those terms, examples: performance, rebuild, race, pistons, camshafts, crankshaft, water pump, oil pump, radiator, manifolds, gaskets, etc..

  1. Login to your WordPress blog by going to http://domain.com/wp-admin/
  2. Click on Write on the top left, this will probably default to Write Post.
  3. Now on the submenu under Write, click on Page. Now you are in the Write Page section
  4. This is almost identical to writing a wordpress post, except a blog page will not ask for a Category.
  5. For your blog page's title enter the title for this page, About, Contact, etc..
  6. In the page box, here is where we will place your content, for an about page, give a general overview of your entire website, how your website will help them, what topics you will be covering, don't have to go into full details, but try to get some keyword optimization in here as well without making it sound bad. You may also place ads or images here as well.
  7. Now it will ask for tags, here you will enter general keywords and phrases that relate to your website, as this about page is pretty general. Remember we need to separate each tag with a comma.
  8. Next section will be HeadSpace Meta Data (if you have the headspace2 plugin installed and activated), which will ask for Page Title and Description.
  9. Page Title you can use the same title that you used above, the difference between these 2 titles, the top one if what viewers on your blog see, this one under headspace is the title people will see on search engine results. I usually make them the same.
  10. Description will be a short description of your website, since this example I was talking about an about page, you have 2 options, load it up with a bunch of keywords and keyword phrases, or give a keyword rich description in sentence form.
  11. Click on Save or Publish and you're done!
